As we enter into the last month of winter, the cold weather blues are probably in full effect.           Does your social life consist of pajamas, wool socks, and a good book? It may be time to update your calendar and get out and about. Here are some St. Louis February events that shouldn’t be missed.

 

The Orchid Show at the Missouri Botanical Garden

When: February 1st & 2nd

If you’re looking to escape the grey skies of winter, stop into the amazing and tropical world of orchids at the Missouri Botanical Gardens. This annual show boasts a rotating display of hundreds of orchids from the Gardens’ expansive living collection. Explore and learn about the flora of Mesoamerica, how the plants are cultivated, as well as the plethora of uses for them. As you wander through the Orthwein Floral Display Hall, you’ll feel transported to a tropical, lush jungle, the perfect winter getaway.

 

Mardi Gras

When: February 1st – 25th

February is not only known as the month of Cupid – it’s also Mardi Gras season, so come out to join in on the festivities! The Soulard neighborhood is hosting some top events to celebrate, including the Purina Pet Parade on February 16th. With all proceeds benefiting the Open Door Animal Sanctuary, you won’t want to miss the largest costumed pet parade in the world. Speaking of parades, on February 22nd, they’re also hosting the Bud Light Grand Parade featuring up to one hundred floats all throwing over 10,000 strands of beads to the crowd. You could also purchase a ticket for the Soulard Monster Tent which will be on the parade route, offering a heated retreat with an open bar and live entertainment. DJ Patrico from 105.7 will be hosting.

 

Wine & Spirits in Winter St. Louis 2020

When: February 8th

Escape the cold at the beautiful The Last Hotel STL for their Wine in Winter celebration. With a portion of the proceeds benefiting The Independence Center, The Wine and Spirits in Winter festival offers samples of over one hundred wines, beers, and spirits in the warm winter wonderland setting of downtown. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a fun tasting extravaganza with friends all while supporting a good cause.

 

Valentine’s Day

When: February 14th

Trying to decide what to do for Valentine’s Day? How about a night at the ballet? The St. Louis Ballet along with the Arianna String Quartet will be showing their acclaimed weekend performances of Could This Be Love February 14th through 16th. Maybe you’re in the mood for some slow jazz? Local jazz vocalist Erin Bode will be performing the “Valentine’s Day with Erin Bode” show February 13th through 15th at Jazz St. Louis. You could also enjoy an evening together at the Chaifetz Arena for the St. Louis Music Festival hosted by Doug E. Fresh.           Looking for a romantic dinner for two? Celebrate amongst the animals at the Saint Louis Zoo, who will be offering a romantic three-course dinner by candlelight for you to share with someone special. The Four Seasons Hotel is also offering a romantic three-course meal as well as their Spa After Dark offer for couples. The Ritz Carlton will be offering Bubbles and Berries in the lobby lounge along with live entertainment. There are plenty of activities to make sure you enjoy a lovely Valentine’s Day.

 

Centennial Beer Festival

When: February 28th and 29th

Calling all beer lovers! Come on out the Centennial Beer Festival for this premium tasting event. Start the evening with a five-course dinner served with pairings from Six Mile Bridge Beer. Sample craft concoctions, talk to the brewers, and enjoy a good meal.

 

 

February may be the shortest month of the year, but there is no shortage of things to do in the St. Louis area. Enjoy your last month of winter and a happy Valentine’s Day to you and yours!
